About 150 people showed up for the first GreenSpot Movie last night at the corner of Sixth & Liberty. They had beer, wine, and sodas for sale and invited people to bring their own snacks.
Some people brought fast food, others brought full picnic fare with silverware and tubs of yummy goodness from Fresh Market and Whole Foods. I was envious, but I had just returned from a weekend in Atlanta where I overate and underexercised.
This was a pet-friendly event, too! Dogs of all sizes had a social sniff and a wag before the movie started, then cuddled with their human parents on a blanket or sheet as the sun went down and the movie started.
Having never seen The Big Lebowski, it was described to me as a Cult Film. I told Joe about the movie a week ago and for the following days leading to the film, I must have heard, "the Dude abides" over 100 times. Another friend on Facebook told me to "have a White Russian for me," which I did not understand until about 30 minutes into the movie. Most cult movies have some kind of message, and while Joe may say it is "the Dude abides," I think that the message of the movie is that a rug can really pull a room together.
Next week's movie is Back to the Future.
