Loving Downtown

As a paying member of the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership, I attended their annual meeting this morning. The meeting included a yummy continental breakfast, a variety of breakfast beverages and each table had cinnamon goodness on a platter in the center of the table, donated by Salem Bakery (aka Deweys). Jason Theil, the president of the Partnership, asked that leftover pastries be taken back to offices of downtown by one person at the table. I was not the winner, therefore I will not mention the goodies to my coworkers. :(

The meeting was good. It let us know about what was happening downtown and what is still needed to continue the revitalization. We have come a long way in the last 20 years, but there is still more growth that is needed. One of the focuses is retail, which used to thrive downtown in the early days.

I support the Partnership because I believe that they love downtown as much as I do. They want to make it a better place to live, work and play for all who are willing to come.

Be a volunteer. Donate this year, whatever you can, and spend time in our beautiful downtown.
